"Acts of sacrifice, charity and penance are not to be given up but should be performed. Indeed, sacrifice, charity, and penance purify even the great souls." The Supreme Lord Krishna speaks in Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Ch 18, text 5
From Prabhupada's purport to this verse:
"There are many purificatory processes for advancement of human society to spiritual life. The marriage ceremony is one of these sacrifices. The Lord says that any sacrifice which is meant for human welfare should never be given up. The marriage ceremony is meant to regulate the human mind to become peaceful for spiritual advancement."
Lord Chaitanya said to a devotee, "Be patient and return home. Don't be a crazy fellow. By and by you will be able to cross the ocean of material existence. You should not be a show bottle devotee and become a false renunciate. For the time being, enjoy the material world in a befitting way but do not get attached to it. Within your heart, you should keep yourself very faithful but externally, you may act like an ordinary person. Thus Lord Krishna will soon be pleased with you and deliver you from the clutches of Maya." Chaitanya Charitamrita Adi Lila 15.26-27
"Marriage with a view to peaceful and virtuous life and with a view to procreate servants of the Lord is a good institution for a Vaishnava." Shrila Bhaktivinode Thakur (a great Vaishnava Acharya who demonstrated a wonderful household life)
